Kirsten Nielsen Hartig is the founding member of Kirsten Nielsen Hartig, PLLC.  She is licensed in all state courts in Michigan and in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Mrs. Hartig was an Oakland County Assistant Prosecutor for more than six years specializing in the most difficult cases.  She has established herself as an experienced litigator with outstanding trial work in Michigan’s Circuit, District, Probate, and Family courts.  She has earned the reputation of being a well-respected, reliable and hard working attorney who has an outstanding ability to navigate her clients through the often confusing and frightening court system.

Judicial Philosophy-I believe the Criminal Justice System does a very poor job of deciding between a good person who has done a bad act and a bad person.  Most people, at some point in their lives, have done a bad act.  That, however, does not make that person a bad person deserving of harsh punishment.  I believe my job is to vigorously defend all clients while emphasizing that he or she is a good person deserving of compassion and rehabilitation, not incarceration.

Most attorneys completely ignore this vital component of aggressive criminal representation.  Establishing a client’s good character for a judge’s consideration includes, but is not limited to, school records, medical records, psychiatric records, employment records and letters from friends, family, neighbors and co-workers.

My Philosophy concerning client communication is simple; your call will never be answered or returned by a paralegal or secretary.  I am your lawyer and all communications between you and my office will be with me.  Your calls will often be answered by me and always returned promptly by me if I am in Court and not immediately available.
